U resorpciji kalcija sudjeluje i D vitamin. Potrebna je dovoljna koli\u010dina kalcija u namirnicama koje omogu\u0107uju bolju iskoristivost kalcija u ljudskom organizmu. Najbolje namirnice tih osobina su mlijeko i mlije\u010dne prera\u0111evine. Osim toga kalcij, odnosno kalcijev fosfat, ve\u017ee na sebe slobodne masne i \u017eu\u010dne kiseline pa tako smanjuje u\u010dinke toksi\u010dnih doza na epitelne stanice crijeva (Strnad i Babu\u0161, 1997.).
