Prema studiji objavljenoj u \u010dasopisu <em>Neuropsychopharmacology<\/em> znanstveno su razotkrili dva mehanizma kojima fizi\u010dka aktivnost utje\u010de na pove\u0107anje razine serotonina u mozgu. Veza je na\u0111ena u redovitoj tjelesnoj aktivnosti koja utje\u010de na pove\u0107anje aminokiseline triptofan u mozgu koju mozak koristi kako bi sintetizirao serotonin. Druga veza je na\u0111ena izme\u0111u motori\u010dke aktivnosti, aktivnosti koja poti\u010de bolje iskori\u0161tenje serotonina u mozgu \u0161to rezultira i pove\u0107anjem njegove potro\u0161nje i sinteze \u2013 poti\u010de se cijeli mehanizam stvaranja serotonina. Prema istra\u017eivanjima aerobna aktivnost poma\u017ee boljem raspolo\u017eenju i pove\u0107ava razinu serotonina u mozgu. U aerobnu aktivnost ubraja se planinarenje, hodanje, yoga, lagano plivanje, joging, i druge aktivnosti ako se izvode u anaerobnom pragu.
